Sabrina Mockenhaupt will compete in the AVON RUNNING Berlin Women’s Run

Sabrina Mockenhaupt will be at the start at the AVON RUNNING Berlin

Women’s Run on May 21. Race director Mark Milde announced today that

Mockenhaupt, currently Germany’s strongest female 10000m runner has

committed to the race. “We are pleased that Sabrina Mockenhaupt will be

starting for the first time at one of the larger Berlin road races,“

says Mark Milde.


The 24-year old runner from the LG Sieg sport club had a fantastic

start into the World Championship seaon. Sabrina Mockenhaupt won the

10000m Europa Cup in Barakaldo (Spain) on April 2, running a personal

best time of  31:21.28. That makes her the third fastest female

German 10000m runner of all times. Sabrina Mockenhaupt followed with

road race victories in Korschenbroich (5km) and in Wurzburg (10km). She

is the favourite for the 10km race in Berlin on May 21.


For the 22nd edition of the AVON RUNNING Berlin Women’s Run, event

organiser SCC RUNNING has already received over 8,500 registrations.

That is about 10% more than at the same time last year. In 2004, 11,142

women and girls participated. This year over 12,000 participants are

expected. The registration deadline for the 5 and 10 km races for

runners, walkers, and Nordic walkers is this coming Wednesday (May 4).

Late registration will then only be possible on the two days before the

race at Karstadt Sport (Joachimstaler Straße).
