Double Running Anniversary at the Turn of the Year

SCC-RUNNING has two traditional races at the turn of the year. This year it is time for a double anniversary: On December 31, the 30th Berlin New Year’s Eve Run will take place, while on January 1, the 35th Berlin New Year’s Day Run will be started.

About 6,000 runners are expected at each event

The 30th Berlin New Year’s Eve Run will start at noon on December 31st at Mommsen- Stadium in Waldschulallee. The courses vary between 2 and 9.9 km, the longest race taking place in part on the Teufelsberg Mountain. The races will take place in all weather. Should it be icy, an alternative course around the mountain will be taken. Many of the runners race in costume, and all will receive a jelly filled donut at the end - further surprises are in planning. Last year there were about 2,000 runners at the start. Sign up is possible at the race.

New Year’s Day race

The following day, also at noon, the biggest New Year’s Day race in Germany will be started at the Brandenburg Gate. On January 1, 2005, 3,900 runners participated. The non-competitive 4 km run goes primarily along the boulevard Unter den Linden.. There is no registration fee, but rather SCC-RUNNING asks for donations for the United Nations Children’s Fund - just come and join in for the run.

Before all of that, however, there is the 7th “Burn off the Christmas Goose” Run on the day after Christmas, December 26, 2005 starting at 10 a.m. at Mommsen Stadium and pausing at the forest ranger’s house at the Saubucht—with treats and mulled wine.

The way back is then even more fun for everyone!
