Registration for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2011 has reached 20.000

The mark of 20.000 registrations for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON on September 25, 2011, has been reached by Tuesday, December 21st. At 10 a.m. 20,345 runners had registered. This means there are less than 5.000 spots left in the second wave (until 25.000).

BMW New Title Sponsor of BERLIN-MARATHON

Starting 2011 German based motor company BMW will be the new title sponsor of the BERLIN-MARATHON. The contract is running for three years. In a press conference Martin Bräunl, head of marketing of BMW Germany, Klaus Wowereit, Governing Major of Berlin, and Rüdiger Otto, managing director of SCC EVENTS also opened online registration for the 38th BMW BERLIN-MARATHON in 2011. Giovanna Turchiarelli and Severin Widmer braved the rain

Giovanna Turchiarelli from Italy and Severin Widmer from Switzerland are the winners of the 37th real,- BERLIN MARATHON Inline Skating. German junior skater Katharina Rumpus surprised with a third place just as Felix Rijhnen with a fifth place. The 14th edition of the Inline race at the real,- BERLIN MARATHON indicated once more that the skaters are not put off by difficult conditions.

real,- BERLIN-MARATHON: Makau and Kebede battle the rain to take World Marathon Majors race

Patrick Makau (Kenya) and Aberu Kebede (Ethiopia) had to battle the elements before taking victory at the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON. They were rewarded with 25 points each in the World Marathon Majors (WMM) series. Since both of them collected their first WMM points in their careers they have no significant impact on the current 2009-2010 series. This one will most likely be decided at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, which takes place on 10th October.

World Class Men´s Field at real,- BERLIN-MARATHON September 26th

After a streak of four wins including two world records by Haile Gebrselassie (Ethiopia) this year´s real,- BERLIN MARATHON on September 26th is going to be the platform for several young and ambitious world class runners to better their personal records. Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot Sets Boston Marathon Course Record; Teyba Erkesso Holds On for Victory in the Women's Race

Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot of Kenya ran away from the field to set the Boston Marathon course record, and Teyba Erkesso of Ethiopia won by just three seconds in a thrilling women's finish, as the 2009-10 World Marathon Majors series resumed on a sun-splashed Patriots' Day. Cheruiyot ran the course in a blistering 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 52 seconds, besting the mark of 2:07:14 set by Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot (no relation), also of Kenya, in 2006.
