All you need to know about the marathon

Only 5 weeks until the race. We receive many emails with many similar

questions. We would like to point you at our FAQ - the frequently asked

questions - and their answers. Please read through them before you send us an

email - maybe your question has already been answered.

Bambini run
About 800 metres, for children born in or after 1994. Registration of entries is on Saturday 28th September 2002 between 10 am and 2.30 pm at the MINI MARATHON booth in the Landesschulamt (Hall 9) at the marathon exhibition.

The start is at 3 pm in the Sommergarten near the Funkturm.

Berlin public transport tickets
You can buy Berlin public transport (BVG) tickets at the marathon exhibition. Only “dropouts” can travel back to the starting area free on the day of the race, their race numbers doubling as tickets.
Breakfast run
No registration needed. The start is from Schloss Charlottenburg at about 9.30 am and proceeds really slowly to the Olympic stadium. The whole family can come along. Bring musical instruments, whistles, flags, banners, and so on. It will be fun.
Can I change the registration from runner to inliner or vice versa?
No, because the limits for participants have already been reached.
Can I register online using an EC card, a remittance or a direct debit?
You can register online for a number of our events at www.davengo.com using either a VISA, a Euro/Mastercard or American Express. Registrations using an EC card, by remittance or direct debit are not at present possible.
How can I rent a timing chip?
You can either pay a € 31.00 fee (deposit + hiring charge), for which you will be given a receipt. When you leave the running bib area after picking up your race number you will be given a timing chip in exchange for the receipt. Or - and this is new – order it from www.Capitaltickets.de
I cannot find my name in the online list of starters
You only appear in the online list of starters after you have been assigned a race number, and this can take some time. It is only when you have been debited with your enrolment fee, or, when registering online, that you have received a confirmation and confirmation number, that you can be sure that your entry has been successful.

If you have not been debited or not received a confirmation and confirmation number you should send an email to: office@berlin-marathon.com telling us when you registered and as many details as possible so that we can identify your registration.

I have moved, and my present address is different from that on the registration form. How should I inform you of my new address?
By mail at real,- BERLIN-MARATHON, Glockenturmstraße 23, 14055 Berlin, by fax at 030 - 30 12 88 20, or by email at office@berlin-marathon.com

I sent off my entry registration a long time ago. When am I going to get a confirmation?
In August 2002, by mail. If your bank account has been debited with the entry fee, this is also a confirmation that you have entered.
I’m coming to Berlin late on Saturday, 28th September. How can I get my running bib?
Until 6 pm on 28th September 2002 at the marathon fair. Or you can have somebody pick it up for you, but they must show the original confirmation of entry.

Withdrawal from 29th real,- BERLIN-MARATHON 2002
Withdrawal is regulated as follows. In order to prevent a ‘black’ market, participants may not transfer their race numbers. An entrant can, for special reasons, which should be specified in the notification of withdrawal, withdraw up to five weeks prior to the run; i.e. before 24th August 2002. Notification of withdrawal can be by mail, fax or email. A € 25.00 share of the entry fee will then be refunded to the entrant. A number of (written, not online) applications for registration, which arrive after registrations have closed, will be put on the latecomers’ list. Places on the run that have become available because of withdrawals will be given to latecomers. 5 weeks before the event the remaining latecomers will be sent a written notification that their entries have not been accepted.
